Welcome to editnerd.com This is the home of Candice Young's reel/resume. My career in editing started while I was in college; however I was actually studying to be somewhat of a relationship expert, getting my B.A. in Communication from Arizona State University. During my final semester in school I applied for an internship at a local news station. While the other people in the program had aspirations of being the next Diane Sawyer or Brian Williams, I was more suited for behind the scenes work, which then led to editing for me (or maybe it was because the editors there actually let me touch the equipment). On a deeper level I think the reason I love editing is because I can shape a story. Even if a story is committed to paper, acted out to perfection, and shot by the book, I can control how the viewer sees and interprets that story. I can lay everything out ABC, or take twists and turns to help lead a viewer to the end. I find every aspect of editing rewarding and downright frustrating, but is that passion, that validation when I get a scene to work and come together that keeps coming back for more.Candice
